Barbara Acton

Barbara Acton practices family law with compassion and a desire to help clients resolve matters as quickly as possible. Ms. Acton has litigated family matters in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench with a focus on sensitive concerns such as: custody and access, parenting, child support, spousal support, property and restraining orders. She is a qualified mediator, having conducted more than 2,000 mediations since 2001, primarily involving family matters as well as civil disputes and victim offender cases.

Ms. Acton is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta North Family Subsection. She is active in the community in refugee settlement work and has previously served as Director and Treasurer for the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society, The Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre and other community not-for-profits. Raised in Edmonton, Ms. Acton has continued to live and work in the city she considers home.

Ms. Acton graduated from the University of Alberta Law School in June of 2014 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in July 2015.
